Personal income increased $1,954.7 billion (10.0 percent) in January, according the Bureau of Economic Analysis. This is the fastest increase since a 10.4 percent increase in May of last year. Both of these massive increases resulted from an injection of government benefits from federal COVID-19 pandemic response programs. Disposable personal income increased $1,963.2 billion (11.4 percent) and personal consumption expenditures increased $340.9 billion (2.4 percent).
